- Prepare the Ingredients:
- Peel the mandarins, separate the segments, and remove as much of the white pith as possible to reduce bitterness.
- Peel and finely chop the ginger to maximize the release of its active compounds.
- Simmer the Ingredients:
- In a large pot, add the water, mandarin segments, and chopped ginger.
- Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 20-30 minutes. The simmering process extracts the nutrients from the ingredients, infusing the water with their beneficial properties.
- Add Honey:
- After simmering, remove the pot from the heat. Stir in a tablespoon of honey to add a touch of sweetness and enhance the antimicrobial effects.
- Strain and Serve:
- Use a fine mesh strainer to filter out the mandarin and ginger pieces, pouring the liquid into a heat-resistant pitcher or directly into serving cups.
- Serve the drink warm, or let it cool and store it in the refrigerator to enjoy chilled.
